Scope & objectives

COSMOS-Computer Science Motivation of Skills is a CS & E department forum formed to encourage students to showcase their technical and non-technical skills.


It’s a department forum, which helps to enhance the various skills such as:

• Technical: The Following events such as Coding, Problem Solving, Workshop, Hackathon, Quiz, Poster designing conducted for Students to showcase their technical Skills through a novel platform called “COSMOS-PARK”.

• Communication: The Following events such as Presentation, Debate, Essay Writing, and Painting conducted for Students to showcase their Communication Skills.

• Leadership/Teamwork: The events such as Sports, Singing, Khana Khazana, Treasure Hunt and Class Event conducted for Students to showcase their Leadership/Teamwork Skills.

• Other Skills: Some Students will be having Editorial Skills, Technical Awareness, Poetry, Cartooning, Puzzling, Humor, Trolling which are encouraged through a novel platform called “COSMOS-KITE”(A magazine) issues will be released every three months.



Activities carried out during 2018-19

The following technical events were conducted

1. A Hands–on workshop on, “Android Application Development using Kotlin”, was conducted on 16th and 17th March     2019 for final and pre-final year students. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Chetan K R, Asst. Professor, Dept. of CS & E.

2. A Technical Quiz was conducted on 29th March 2019.

3. A webinar on “Cloud Computing with AWS” was organized on 30th March 2019. Mr. Dhanjay Padmanabhacharya, Head in IT Company, Bangalore and Mrs. LipsaParida, AWS IT specialist delivered the talk. The webinar was conducted for pre final year students.

4. A Hackathon was conducted from 6th April 2018 to 10th April 2019. The students were given a task to develop an Android App, “JNNCE DARSHAN”, that provides information about JNNCE.

5. “COSMOSPARK”, an online portal was inaugurated during the COSMOS inauguration on 28th September 2018. COSMOSPARK was intended to ignite the students’ minds for creativity.



        The following interval based events were conducted facilitate students to explore and exhibit the creativity and technical skills under COSMOSPARK.

        a. COSMO CROSS- A technical crossword was asked to be solved using creative hints given. This was conducted on 3rd March 2019.

        b. COSMO CUBULARY- This event conducted on 4th March, different images were given and students were asked to find appropriate term from Computer Science Vocabulary.

        c. COSMO CHART- Students were given a problem Scenario and were asked to write flow chart. The event was conducted on 20th March.

        d. COSMO CODING- Different problem scenario was given and students had to code them in C/Java/Python. The online coding events were conducted on 28th September 2018, 08th October 2018 and 5th April 2019.

6. Along with the technical events, a few co-curricular events were conducted as a part of cosmos. They were

        a. Rangoli, Mehendi and Tattoo competitions to encourage the artists on 20th February 2019.

        b. Various sport events were conducted to encourage sportspersons on 2nd March 2019.

        c. The singers got a chance to exhibit their talent on 22nd March.

        d. Friends participated in Twins Day on 29th March.

        e. Lazy Dancing competition was conducted on 4th April to showcase creative Dancing.

7. The Cosmos wrapped up events on 3rd May with class event , “Atithi” and KhanaKhazna- cooking without Fire. These events were conducted to encourage whole class work as a group, coordinate and conduct small talent show.
