JNNCE – Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre received a NewGen IEDC grant of Rs.2.87 crores from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
New Generation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (NewGen IEDC) is the programme launched by National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. NewGen IEDC aims to inculcate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the young students, encourage and support start-up creation through guidance, mentorship and support. The programme will be implemented in academic institutions. Students will be encouraged to take up innovative projects with possibility of commercialization.
NewGen IEDC would attempt to spread the message of entrepreneurship and create culture for that at JNNCE. The presence of NewGen IEDCs would create a vibrant entrepreneurial culture amongst the students. IEDC will strive hard to convert Job-Seekers to Job Generators through the entrepreneurial route.

Objectives of NewGen IEDC
- To channelize the knowledge and the energy of youth towards becoming active partners in the economic development process
- To develop knowledge-based and innovation-driven enterprises and promote employment opportunities amongst students
- To inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship
- To provide services including information on all aspects of enterprise building to budding S&T entrepreneurs.
Salient features of NewGen IEDC
- It is a five-year programme
- Maximum twenty new projects would be supported per year
- The projects should be student projects with innovation and commercial viability
- Projects may be multi-disciplinary in nature and should be executed by student teams
- Projects should also have commercial viability leading to possible startup companies
Functions of NewGen IEDC
- To mentor students for identification, development and commercialization of their innovative ideas
- To motivate student teams for new product development
- To organize Business Plan Competitions/Innovation Camps/ Hackathon
- To guide and assist prospective entrepreneurs via arranging interaction with entrepreneurs, bankers, professionals, potential customers
