Established in 1980 by the National Education Society (NES), Jawaharlal Nehru New College of Engineering (JNNCE), Shivamogga, is a reputed institution committed to excellence in Technical Education, Research, Innovation, and Professional Development. Formerly known as Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering, the institution adopted its present name in 2019 as per AICTE circular. Affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and recognized by the Government of Karnataka, JNNCE continues to nurture competent professionals and responsible citizens.

Campus and Infrastructure
Spread across a lush green campus of approximately 39 acres, JNNCE offers an enriching environment for learning, collaboration, and personal growth. The campus features modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and workshops, computing facilities, a comprehensive library, separate hostels for boys and girls, extensive sports facilities, and essential student amenities.

Hostel Facilities
JNNCE provides separate hostel facilities for boys with 600 capacity and girls with 400 capacity offering a safe, comfortable, and supportive residential environment with Comfortable Accommodation, Wi-Fi and Connectivity, Study Facilities, Safety and Security, Recreational Opportunities. The hostels provide essential amenities to support students’ academic needs, personal well-being, and overall development.

Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
JNNCE promotes a culture of inquiry, creativity, and innovation through its research initiatives, AICTE Idea Lab, VTU Skill Lab, Research and Innovation Centre (JNNRIC), JNNCART, and New Age Incubation Centre (NAIN). Faculty members and students are encouraged to undertake research projects, publish scholarly work, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with academic institutions and industry partners.

JNNCE bridges the gap between academic learning and industry expectations through industry partnerships, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), expert lectures, internships, technical training, and project-based learning.
The Placement Cell supports students through aptitude development, technical preparation, communication skills, and soft-skills training. Graduates have pursued careers with reputed organizations, including TCS, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, BEL, Texas Instruments, Cadence, and other employers across diverse sectors.
Student Development and Campus Life
At JNNCE, education extends beyond the classroom. Students participate in technical competitions, seminars, workshops, cultural programmes, sports, and community initiatives.
The college also encourages participation in professional societies, skill-development activities, and VTU Sadhruda. JNNCE successfully hosted the VTU Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet 2025 under the banner of Sadhruda, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie among participating students.
Student Mentoring and Support
The Student Mentor Scheme provides personalized academic guidance, career support, and regular interaction between faculty and students. Parent–Teacher Meetings and periodic progress reviews strengthen communication among students, parents, and faculty.

JNNCE promotes environmental responsibility through initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment, water conservation, and resource management.
Techzone, the annual technical fest, and JANVEY, the annual sports and cultural fest, provide platforms for students to showcase their talent, creativity, teamwork, and leadership.
The college also encourages participation in professional societies, skill-development activities, and VTU Sadhruda. JNNCE successfully hosted the VTU Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet 2025, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie among participating students.
The campus supports an active sporting culture with playgrounds, a multi-gym, a turf cricket pitch, and dedicated sports facilities. Its cricket ground and pavilion have hosted prestigious tournaments, including Ranji Trophy matches and other state-level competitions.
