CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT
Introduction
Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1980 during the inception of the Institute. Department has well equipped laboratory and a separate research lab to carryout various research activities. The faculty members of the department are highly qualified, experienced, dedicated and involved in both teaching as well as research. The department is recognized as research Centre by VTU in the year 2013 and six students are working in the field of Analytical Chemistry, Corrosion inhibition, electroplating, nano composite coating, Bio energy conversion, coordination Chemistry, effluent treatment etc., Department has published more than 70 research papers in various International/National Journals and presented more than 40 research papers in various National / International conferences. Department has conducted national level workshops to cater the needs of the faculty and students.

• Details of Lab facilities
Department of Chemistry is having well equipped laboratory to conduct various experiments prescribed by VTU with an area of 140.54 m3.
• Class room
Well equipped digital class rooms to handle the I year classes are situated in the basic science block.
• Department Library
To cater the need of students, the department is having a separate reference library and issue the book based on the student requirements.

Research Initiatives
Chemistry department has been recognized as research centre from VTU, in the year 2013 to pursue Ph.D. (Full Time / Part Time). 2 research scholars were awarded Ph.D and 4 students are perusing their Ph.D. degree programme. A separate research lab with modern equipment’s is established to conduct research in various areas like Analytical Chemistry, Corrosion Inhibition, Bio Energy Conversion, Renewable energy, Electro deposition, Effluent treatment, Nano Technology etc. A grant of 6.0 lakh rupees was received from AICTE under MODROB scheme to modernize the laboratory. Faculty members of the department are regularly publishing their research finding in peer reviewed International Journals and more than 70 research papers were published in International Journal and around 10 papers have been published in National Journals
