ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

(UG Program NBA Accredited for the period 1.7.2019 to 30.06.2022)

ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Introduction

Telecommunication is a discipline in its own right. Telecommunication engineering wholly integrates the science and engineering of all that makes communication through electronic devices. Telecommunication engineers design, build and manage systems that transmit process and store information as electrical or optical signals. This program enables engineering graduates to develop the technological and competitive skills needed in the design and engineering of modern telecommunication systems and networks.

The department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was established in the year 2000. The department is headed by Dr. Usha Devi M B, PhD (Switching technology). The faculty members of the department include one doctorate and 13 Post Graduates, most of them are pursing PhD. It has well equipped laboratories, computer centre and department library. An agenda of ISTE recognized short-term training programs, workshops and conferences ensures healthy interaction and have enabled students to compete and win awards at national levels.

The department is coordinating the Remote Centre of IIT-Bombay in the college where short term courses are conducted for staff and students by video conferencing. It also manages prospective nodal center for eYantra - a Robot based project initiated by IIT Bombay. The department organizes workshops, conferences and technical programs under the banner of IETE student's forum and shivamogga IETE center. Students and faculties are encouraged to participate in them, to orient them to the scope, relevance and usage of technology by publishing papers at national and international levels. Students of the department are undertaking many useful innovative projects.
